Team results finally have come in for the Joey Haines Invitational track and field meet hosted by Southeast Missouri State over the weekend.

The news was positive for Southeast, which finished first in the women's division and second on the men's side.

"That's real good for us," Southeast coach Eric Crumpecker said.

Because of a computer glitch, team scores were not available following the meet.

The team results were determined by a series of dual meets among the 10 women's teams and eight men's squads.

Southeast's women won all of their duals, while Southeast's men lost only to Southern Illinois-Carbondale, which claimed the championship.

"We had a lot of good performances with both our men and women," Crumpecker said.

Southeast volleyball player Molly Davis has been selected to attend the annual NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference.

Each NCAA Division I institution nominates four students -- two women and two men -- and the NCAA makes the final selection. Southeast nominated football player Nick Grassi, track athlete Brianna Egbuka, men's basketball player Jajuan Maxwell and Davis, an Academic All-American.

The conference, set for May 24 to 27 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., features one representative from every Division I institution. The NCAA pays for the cost of the trip.

Softball tries to end slide vs. Edwardsville

The Southeast softball team will try to snap a seven-game losing streak today as the Redhawks host future Ohio Valley Conference member Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.

Southeast (12-15, 3-6) fell to eighth place in the nine-team OVC after being swept in a three-game weekend series at Jacksonville State.

It won't be easy for the Redhawks to break through today. First-year Division I member SIU-E was 28-7 before a Tuesday game at Bradley. The Cougars are 4-1 against OVC squads.

SIU was a perennial Division II power, having qualified for the postseason the previous nine years.
