The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team was swept in a pair of matches to close out its home schedule over the weekend.
Austin Peay swept Southeast 25-20, 25-21, 30-28 on Friday night.
The Governors never led by more than five points in the opening set, and Southeast trimmed the deficit to 22-20, but an Austin Peay kill and service ace and an attack error by the Redhawks closed out the set.
Southeast had eight kills and hit .028 in the first.
The Redhawks led 2-0 in the second set, but once the Governors took a 3-2 lead on a service ace, they never trailed again.
It was tied three times after that, and Southeast never faced more than a three-point deficit until Austin Peay scored the final three points of the set to win by four.
There were 17 ties in the long third set.
The Redhawks held a 23-21 advantage, but a bad set, attack error, and a Govs kill put APSU up 24-23.
Consecutive kills by Taylor Masterson gave the Redhawks a 25-24 lead.
Southeast took its last lead at 26-25. The teams traded points until it was evened at 28-28. A Redhawks attack error and a kill by APSU's Sammie Ebright sealed the Govs' victory.
Masterson had 10 kills and hit .304 in the match. Andrea Baylin also had 10 kills.
Murray State defeated the Redhawks 25-23, 25-23, 26-16 on Saturday.
The Racers (22-4, 13-1) clinched the regular-season Ohio Valley Conference championship with the victory.
The first set featured ties at 10, 17 and 23-all before a kill and a Redhawks error gave Murray State the set.
Southeast led 9-2 early in the second set and 23-21 late, but the Racers rallied for the set win before taking the third handily.
Masterson led the Redhawks with seven kills on 16 attacks. Kelsey Keeve added six kills, and Alex Rohlfing added five on 24 attacks.
Katarina Rotta had 14 assists, while haley Roberts had 11.
Seniors Baylin, Keeve, Rohlfing and Meredith Stranges were honored before their final home match.
The Southeast tennis team picked up three victories in singles competition from underclassmen at the Arkansas State Red Wolf Invitational on Friday.
Freshman Viviana Ortiz defeated Missouri State's Ekaterina Donetskova, who played at Southeast last season, 6-3, 6-4.
Ortiz later lost to Murray State's Verginie Tchakarova.
Freshman Maria Montenegro won 6-1, 6-2 over Missouri State's Abbey Beltote, but lost to Nancy Karaky of Murray State.
Sophomore Annisa Warasanti defeated Arkansas State's Rebecca McIsaac 6-1, 7-5 after losing 6-0, 6-3 to Murray State's Alena Vasileva.
Warasanti and junior Katy Brady lost to the Racers' doubles team 8-1 and Ortiz and freshman Kateryna Stoianova lost to Arkansas State's doubles team 8-6.
