CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southeast Missouri State University's volleyball team finally notched its first victory of the season as the Otahkians swept host Southern Illinois 30-25, 30-24, 32-30 Tuesday night.
Jessica Koeper led the Otahkians (1-8) in kills with 15 and Jessica Wilfong added 10. Lauren Scannell came up with 18 digs and Jill Miller added 12. Setter Jamie Baumstark recorded 36 assists.
SIU (2-5) got 10 kills from Jene Pulliam.
Southeast golfers second
Southeast's golfers had a strong round of 280 Tuesday as the Indians moved up and finished second in the 12-team Harris Fall Classic that they hosted at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson.
Missouri-Kansas City, the leader after Monday's 36 holes, won the 54-hole event with a score of 855. Southeast shot 857, followed by Southern Illinois (862) and Morehead State (865). The Indians were fourth after Monday's play.
UMKC's Allen Johnson was the medalist at 8-under 205. SIU's Sean McNemar was second at 6-under 207.
Southeast's Zack Decker finished third at 4-under 209 after Tuesday's 4-under 67. Teammate Matt Hillis also shot 4-under 67 Tuesday and placed sixth at 2-under 211.
"We played real well today and overall had a good tournament," Southeast coach Carroll Williams said.
