MURRAY, Ky. -- Southeast Missouri State University's volleyball team overcame a strong challenge from Murray State to notch its seventh straight victory Friday night.
The Otahkians held off the Lady Racers 15-12, 13-15, 15-12, 18-16 to improve to 14-5 overall and 7-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play.
Murray State, coached by former Southeast assistant Dave Schwepker, fell to 10-7 overall and 7-3 in the OVC.
Southeast senior setter Amy Henken picked up her third triple-double of the season and her second in as many matches, registering 13 kills, 73 assists and 17 digs.
Krista Haukap pounded home a match-high 32 kills to lead the Otahkians. Others reaching double figures in kills were Lea Beckemeyer with 21, Angie Aschoff with 12 and freshman Emily Johnson with 11.
Beckemeyer and Johnson paced the Otahkians in digs with 22 each. Aschoff and Haukap both had 14 while Lori Lange added 10.
Rachelle Knapp had five block assists while Aschoff and Johnson added four each. Haukap had two solo blocks.
The Otahkians played without standout Jackie Derwort, who was injured during Tuesday's win at Eastern Illinois.
"We had a great win tonight," said Southeast coach Cindy Gannon. "Murray State was on a roll and Emily Johnson stepped in for Jackie and really did a great job."
Murray State got 30 kills from Sarah Ernst. Jessica Wood and Audrey Nelson both had 21 kills.
"I thought we played tough," said Schwepker. "We played hard, but SEMO is great, no doubt about that."
Southeast plays at Tennessee-Martin today.
