MURRAY, Ky. -- Southeast Missouri State University's men's and women's track and field teams both took second place in the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Saturday.

Tennessee State barely got past the Otahkians. TSU scored 128.5 points while Southeast came up just short at 122.

Eastern Illinois won on the men's side with 269 points, followed by Southeast with 200. The next closest men's team, Eastern Kentucky, scored 84.5.

"We did as much as we could with what we had. We competed hard," said Southeast coach Joey Haines. "On the men's side, 200 points is what I thought we'd score. Usually as a coach you're always overly optimistic. You never score what you think you will, but we did as well as we could do. I've never heard of 200 points not winning the meet.

"We were also very happy with the women. We scored about as many points as we could."
