The Southeast Missouri State women's soccer team had to settle for its second consecutive tie to begin Ohio Valley Conference play.
Neither Southeast nor Austin Peay could score during 110 minutes Friday night as they battled to a 0-0 draw at Houck Stadium.
The Redhawks are 5-4-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the OVC. The Govs are 1-8-3 and 0-1-2.
Just like they did during last Sunday's 1-1 deadlock with Eastern Illinois, the Redhawks dominated play but could not come away with a victory.
Southeast outshot Austin Peay 29-6 as Govs goalkeeper Carley Newman was forced to make a whopping 17 saves.
Redhawks keeper Kristen Starkey earned the shutout as she made five saves.
Southeast held a 27-4 edge in shots in the game against Eastern Illinois.
The Redhawks hold their annual alumni game at 2 p.m. today, with former Southeast players taking on the current squad in an exhibition contest.
Southeast's next official game will be Friday at defending OVC regular-season champion Murray State.
Volleyball
The Redhawks suffered a pair of OVC road setbacks over the weekend.
Southeast grabbed a 2-1 lead against Eastern Kentucky on Friday, but the Colonels rallied for the 26-24, 24-26, 22-25, 25-14, 15-7 victory.
Karleigh DeLong led the Redhawks with 19 kills and added 12 digs. Emily Hughes added 17 kills.
Kelly Benacka put up 44 assists and 18 digs, while Molly Davis recorded 20 digs.
Davis, Benacka and Amanda Rickhoff each had two service aces in the loss.
Lauren Snyder smashed 30 kills for Eastern Kentucky, which earned its first win of the season in 13 matches.
The Redhawks followed that loss with a 3-0 loss at Morehead State on Saturday.
Hughes, DeLong, Rickhoff and Emily Maher each had five kills to pace Southeast in the 25-21, 25-13, 25-16 loss.
Benacka chipped in 16 assists and nine digs, while Claire Keaton also finished with nine digs.
Ellie Roberson led the Eagles with 16 kills.
Southeast, which fell to 6-10 overall and 3-4 in the OVC, returns to action Friday with a home match against Jacksonville State.
Cross country
Jason Lumpkin paced the Redhawks men's team with a 40th-place finish at Saturday's Greater Louisville Classic. He finished in 25 minutes, 1.18 seconds.
The Redhawks men finished 24th, while the women took 26th.
Chris Loseman (65th, 25:23.61), Tyler Mullen (201st, 26:42.19), Cody Martin (225th, 26:55.78) and Brandon Funderburk (229th, 26:59.73) rounded out the Redhawks' top five finishers.
Monica Noble paced the women's team with a 51st-place finish. She crossed the line in 18:33.36.
Szandra Pal (106th, 19:14.55), Liz Speicher (146th, 19:34.35), Lanie Haertling (268th, 21:40.25) and Kelly Good (279th, 22:34.22) rounded out Southeast's top five.
