The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team's weekend trip to SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois ended with a pair of losses.

The Redhawks dropped to 7-14 and 3-5 in the OVC.

The Redhawks were defeated in five sets by the Panthers in Charleston, Illinois, on Saturday.

The opening set was tied 10 times before EIU won it 25-22.

Southeast trailed by as many as six in the second set, but the Redhawks concluded the set on a 6-0 run to take it 26-24.

The Redhawks led the entire third set, which they won 25-20. EIU won the fourth 25-17.

Southeast led 14-13 in the final set, but the Panthers scored the final three points to win it 16-14 and take the match.

Madalyn Werths and Nzingha Clarke each hit .500 in the match and led Southeast with 19 and 16 kills, respectively. Krissa Gearring added 13 kills.

The Redhawks lost 3-1 to the Cougars on Friday night in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Southeast led the entire way to a 25-19 victory in the first set.

The second set had six lead changes and was tied nine times, including at 20-all. SIUE closed out the set with a 5-1 run to win it 25-21.

The Redhawks held an 18-17 lead in the third set before the Cougars scored the final eight points of the set to win 25-18.

SIUE trailed 22-20 in the final set before finishing off the Redhawks with a 5-0 spurt that made it 25-22.

Werths finished with 15 kills and hit .560 while Clarke had 11 kills and hit .455.

SIUE's Kristen Torre hit .667 and had 17 kills. Ashley Witt added 15 kills.

The Redhawks travel this weekend to Nashville where they'll face Tennessee State and Belmont on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Soccer

The Southeast soccer team continued its unbeaten streak against Belmont on Friday night.

The Redhawks and Bruins finished in a 1-1 tie after two overtimes at Houck Stadium.

Southeast is now 6-0-2 all-time against Belmont.

The Redhawks had six shots to the Bruins' two in a scoreless first half. Belmont took a 1-0 lead in the 69th minute on a goal by Megan Michela.

Angie Mann evened it at 1 apiece with her seventh goal of the season six minutes later. Jackson graduate Jordan Nelson recorded the assist.

The Redhawks finished with 14 shots -- five on goal -- while the Bruins had 10 shots and four on goal. Kindra Lierz made three saves.

Southeast, which is 7-5-3 on the season and 2-2-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference, hosts Jacksonville State at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Cross country

The Southeast cross country team competed at the Bradley Classic on Friday in Peoria, Illinois.

The women's squad finished 16th with junior Megan Parks leading the team with a 29th-place finish in 21 minutes, 20.5 seconds.

The men's team was 17th and led by junior Marc Maton, who finished 35th in 24:53.6.

Kaitlyn Shea (52), Sydeney O'Brien (56), Angie Sumner (64), Lindsey Seabaugh (142), Andrea George (160) and Rachel Hutchcraft (165) also competed for the women.

Shane Brown (70), Jaime Zarate (103), Dan Plunkett (107), Jace Mortimer (120) Curtis Reed (130) and Andrew Whitener (163) rounded out the Southeast men's finishers.

The Redhawks compete at the Ohio Valley Conference championships on Oct. 31 in Murray, Kentucky.
