The Southeast Missouri State track and field team made the most of its lone home meet of the outdoor season.
The Redhawks claimed 22 event titles at the Joey Haines Invitational at the Abe Stuber Track & Field Complex on Saturday.
Ayonna Cartwright won the 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.81 and 24.99 seconds, respectively, and Kayla Heidelberg was third (12.36) in the 100.
Cheyenne Tunti finished first with a time of 55.85 in the 400-meter and Jovannie Spears was second in 57.20.
Jackson graduate Blake Smith won the 100-meter dash in 10.58 and Central graduate Chris Martin was second in 10.88.
Smith claimed the long jump title with a distance of 7.35 meters. Jacob Kent was second in the long jump (6.78) and high jump (1.88) while Abayomi Akinmoladun was third in the long jump (6.47).
Martin's jump of 15.41 meters won the triple jump and Reggie Miller Jr. was second with a distance of 13.67.
Duncan Ross, Austin Barousse and Chris Navarro all tied for second in the pole vault with a height of 4.25.
Chante Mosby won the women's high jump with a height of 1.63 and Abi Sowash was third at 1.58. Haley Holton placed third in the pole vault (3.49), Macy Ritter was third in the long jump (5.26) and Jessica Brown was third in the triple jump (11.69).
Jarred Pasley won the 200 and 400-meter races in 22.00 and 48.09, respectively, while Notre Dame graduate Jordan Barber was third in the 400 in 48.89.
Central gradute Mary Dohogne won the 1,500-meter run in 4 minutes, 46.16 seconds and Angie Sumner was third (4:54.57). Marc Maton won the event on the men's side in 3:57.12 while Nathan Cook claimed the 5,000-meter title in 14:58.60. Alyssa Rebecca and Kristen Richardet were second and third in the women's 5,000.
Taylor Coffelt's time of 15.18 was good for first in the 100-meter hurdles and Mike Peters won the 400-meter hurdles in 53.95 and was second in the 110 hurdles (15.20).
Kayla Gutierrez finished first in the discus (45.39) and hammer throw (55.39) while Sarah Hall was second in both events with throws of 40.59 and 54.57, respectively. Hall claimed the shot put title with a throw of 14.65 and Gutierrez was second with 12.97. Coffelt was third in the shot put (11.53) and javelin (39.04).
Redhawks senior Kevin Farley, who was competing unattached, won the shot put (18.05) and hammer throw (58.14) and was third in the discus (49.87). Shon Kyle won the discus with a throw of 52.90 and was second in the shot put (17.38) and third in the hammer throw (52.45). Navarro was third in the javelin with a throw of 57.72.
The team of Cartwright, Coffelt, Chelsea Miller and Jessica Brown won the 400-meter relay in 47.83 seconds. Spears, Miller, Tunti and Cartwright won the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:55.47.
Pasley, Barber, Kameron Long and Cole Davis finished first in the 1,600 relay in 3:19.29.
The Redhawks return to action at the Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tennessee, next weekend.
The Southeast softball team surpassed its Ohio Valley Conference win total from last season with three wins in Nashville, Tennessee, over the weekend.
The Redhawks defeated Tennessee State 7-2 on Friday before sweeping Belmont in a doubleheader on Saturday 4-2 and 4-3.
Southeast improved to 9-18 and 5-7 in conference after winning only three OVC games last season.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of Friday's contest on a sacrifice fly. Southeast tied it up in the third and a two-run single by shorstop India Davis in the fourth gave the Redhawks a 3-1 lead.
TSU had just one hit in the fifth inning but capitalized off three Southeast errors to cut the margin to one, but that was as close as it would get.
Left fielder Taylor McDannold singled to center, driving in two to extend the lead to 5-2 in the sixth.
Center fielder Kayla Fortner homered to leadoff the seventh and right fielder Shelby Eccles' RBI single made it 7-2 for the final.
Madeline Krumrey improved to 5-6 with the complete-game win in the circle. The freshman allowed one earned run on eight hits. She walked two and struck out five.
Southeast faced a 1-0 deficit in the first inning of Game 1 against Belmont on Saturday after an RBI double by Bruins' center fielder Kat Hollingsworth, who was 3 for 3 in the game.
The Redhawks scored two runs in the third to go up 2-1. Second baseman Meaghan Touchette tagged up and scored on a foul out to the left fielder and Fortner drove in the go-ahead run with a single to center.
Catcher Chelsea Smith led off the fourth with a single and advanced to third on a bunt single by Touchette, who stole second. Both runners scored when designated player Claire Wernig reached on an error by the third baseman to make it 4-1.
Belmont scored a run in the seventh with a two-out single to right but Krumrey (6-6) recorded her third strikeout to end the game. She allowed one earned run on 10 hits and walked one batter in the win.
The Redhawks never trailed in the finale against the Bruins.
Fortner doubled to right center to put Southeast up 1-0 in the top of the first and an RBI double by catcher Riley Smith extended the lead to 2-0 in the second.
Belmont right fielder Amy Zeronian doubled in the bottom of the second and singled in the fourth, driving in Hollingsworth each time to tie the game.
Fortner hit her 12th home run of the season in the fifth to regain the lead for good. Wernig drove in a run in the sixth to make it 4-2 before the Bruins scored on a sacrifice fly in the seventh for the final score.
Sophomore Keaira Schilling allowed three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings of work to improve to 3-7. She walked one and struck out a pair.
The Redhawks host Southern Illinois at 4 p.m. Wednesday and return to OVC action at Murray State on Friday and Saturday.
The Southeast tennis team's losing skid is at nine after road losses to Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky over the weekend.
The Eagles defeated the Redhawks 7-0 on Friday night and the Colonels won 7-0 on Saturday morning.
MSU improved to 7-8 and 5-2 in the conference as it swept Southeast in the six singles and three doubles matches.
EKU (12-7, 7-1 OVC) won every singles match in straight sets and defeated Southeast at the No. 2 and 3 doubles spots for the point. The No. 1 doubles match went unfinished.
Southeast (1-18, 1-6 OVC) has three home matches remaining this season, starting with a match against UT Martin on Tuesday.
Ashley Thomas finished her sophomore season at Southeast tied for ninth in the all-around at an NCAA regional at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Thomas' score of 38.825 put her in ninth place along with Oregon State's Kaytianna McMillan. There were 16 participants in the all-around competition.
"I'm so proud of her. Hitting 4-for-4 in this type of environment is an excellent accomplishment," coach Kristi Ewasko said in a release. "It's been a pleasure watching Ashley grow this season and find a leading role for her team. She can now take this experience back to her team and be a strong leader to encourage the whole team to be here next year. Ashley represented Southeast tonight against some of the country's top collegiate gymnasts and made Southeast proud."
Thomas opened with a 9.650 on floor exercise then scored a 9.725 on vault. She scored a 9.700 on uneven bars and finished with her highest event score of the day with a 9.750 on balance beam.
