The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's indoor track and field teams each claimed victories over visiting SIU Edwardsville on Friday.
The Redhawks' men's squad defeated SIUE 77-66 and the women beat the Cougars 76-73 in the dual meet, which was held at Southeast's Student Recreation Center-North.
The Southeast men had five individual first-place finishes along with the 4x400-meter relay team.
Marc Maton was first in the 3,000 meter run in 8 minutes, 41.93 seconds.
Jarred Pasley was first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.36 and Brannon Wright was second in 50.97. Wright was second in the 200 as well in 22.89.
Dylan Rush recorded a height of 4.60 meters to claim the victory in the pole vault while Chris Martin won the triple jump with a leap of 15.38 and Jason Walker won the weight throw with a toss of 17.02 m.
Martin was third in the long jump with a distance of 6.97. Zach Gordon was second with a jump of 7.01.
Gordon was also third in the 55 meter dash (6.54), while Haile Wilson took second with a time of 6.45.
Dalton Huffman was second in the high jump (1.88) and Christopher Davis Jr. was third (1.78).
Jordan Brown was second in the 800 (1:56.20) with Cole Davis and Kameron long finishing third and fourth, respectively. James Kosbar was second in the mile (4:35.05).
Stephen Zagurski was third in the weight throw (16.04) and second in the shot put (14.69).
The team of Jordan Barber, Brandon Chunn, Pasley, and Wright took first in the 4x400 relay in 3:32.67. The team of Ayanna Cartwright, Chelsea Miller, Miya Dorsey and Cheyenne Tunti won the event on the women's side with a time of 4:08.
The Redhawks women had six individual event winners.
Sierra Maddox won the pole vault with a height of 3.50 meters while N'Kia Jones won the triple jump (11.49) and Abi Sowash won the high jump (1.56).
Megan Parks won the mile with a time of 5:16.44 and Sydney O'Brien was first in the 3,000 meter run in 10:54.24. Andrea George and Natalie Kopplin were third and fourth in the 3,000, respectively.
Tunti took first in the 200 with a time of 25.62 while Dorsey was second (25.89). Tent also took third in the 55m (7.34) behind Kayla Heidelberg, who was second in 7.27.
Dorsey was third in the 55-meter hurdles, posting a time of 8.52.
Ellis Overbey and Kaitlyn Shea were second and third in the 800 with times of 2:24.40 and 2:24.43, respectively.
Sidne' Williamson's jump of 5.49 was good for second in the long jump while Macy Ritter was third (5.40).
Allah Herron was second in the weight throw (15.13) and third in the shot put (13.47).
The Redhawks compete next weekend at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.
The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics squad increased its season high as it topped Wisconsin-Whitewater 193.900-189-175 on Friday night at Houck Field House.
The Redhawks' previous season high was 193.225, which they posted the previous Friday in a win over Centenary.
"I am very proud of my team," coach Kristi Ewasko said in a press release. "We focused on the little details, like stick landings and finishing in chest-up positions. The team really pulled it together tonight, not counting any falls, and we will just look to build from here."
Southeast opened the meet on vault, posting a 47.825. Alexis Brawner and Ashley Thomas each scored 9.700 on the event to share the title.
The Redhawks' 48.850 on the uneven bars in the second rotation was a season high. Lauren Israel took first with a 9.825 and Brawner was second with a 9.800. Both were season highs.
In the third rotation Southeast scored a 48.375 on the balance beam, led by McKinzie Jones, who won the event with a season-best 9.800. Israel was second with a season-high 9.775.
The Redhawks finished the night with a season-best 48.850 on the floor. Jones finished first with a 9.875.
Israel won the all-around with a season-high 38.825. Brawner posted a 38.800 and Thomas a 38.200, respectively, in the all-around.
Southeast faces Missouri and Lindenwood in Columbia, Missouri, on Friday.
The Southeast tennis team picked up its first win of the season and the coach Mary Beth Gunn era with a 6-1 victory over Chicago State on Saturday to improve to 1-1.
"It's a great feeling for the team to get a win tonight," Gunn, who is in her first season at Southeast, said in a press release. "We are excited about our next matches and what we can do this season."
The duo of Mariya Kostiuk and Anais Emelie picked up a 7-6 victory at the No. 1 doubles position. Isabella Krupa and Ana Canahuate-Torres won 6-4 at the No. 2 spot and Mila Majtan and Annisa Warasanti claimed a 6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Kostiuk started off singles competition with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot. Krupa followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win, Majtan won 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 at No. 3 and Emelie won 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.
Canahuate-Torres won 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot.
The Redhawks opened their season with a 6-1 road loss to Illinois State on Friday night.
Warasanti's 7-5, 6-4 win over Chanel Scudiero at the No. 6 singles spot was Southeast's only victory.
The pair of Kostiuk and Emelie lost 6-1 in No. 1 doubles. Krupa and Viviana Ortiz lost 6-0 in No. 2 doubles and Majtan and Warasanti were defeated 6-2 in No. 3 doubles.
Kostiuk dropped a 7-5, 7-5 decision in the No. 1 singles match. Krupa lost 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.
Majtan lasted three sets at the No. 3 spot, but lost 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
Emelie lost 6-2, 6-2 in No. 4 and Ortiz lost 6-3, 7-6 in the No. 5 match.
The Redhawks face Saint Louis University on the road on Tuesday.
