Rachel Spears

Bell City, so., outside hitter

Notes: Spears gave the Cubs a force at the net with her height and hitting ability, and picked up her game late in the season as Bell City made the state final four. Spears made all-region and first-team all-district as she finished with 184 kills, 79 blocks and 320 digs.

* Codie Lancaster

Bell City, fr., setter

Notes: Lancaster stepped into the lineup as a freshman and made the offense click with her passing ability. Lancaster was all-region and first-team all-district after leading her team with 705 assists. Lancaster added 220 digs.

* Jodie Gipson

Jackson, sr., setter

Notes: Gipson was a multiple threat from her setter position. Gipson led the Indians with 510 assists and 60 aces. Gipson, who was all-region and all-district in Class 4 District 1, also had 79 kills and 135 digs.

Coach's comment: "She could just do it all," Jackson coach Jackie Haines said. "She was our main setter. She could block. She could hit. She could serve; she led our team in aces. There was nothing she couldn't do."

* Kelsey Kutz

St. Vincent, sr., outside hitter/outside blocker

Notes: Kutz earned all-region, all-conference and all-district honors for the Squaws, as St. Vincent won its first district title since 1987. Kutz also was named to the KTJJ Dream Team, a 10-person all-star team picked by KTJJ radio station out of Farmington.

Coach's comment: "She was just an awesome leader," St. Vincent coach Mary Rosenquist said. "That's just another good skill of hers. She's very direct, but in a very kind way."

* Cassie Seiler

Leopold, so., setter

Notes: In a lineup of underclassmen, Seiler's passing ability helped Leopold's offense go. Seiler earned first-team all-district honors and helped Leopold make the Class 1 quarterfinals.

Coach's comment: "She's just an all-around good player," Leopold coach Sandy Davis said. "I told her, 'You're the quarterback of this team, you have the ball every play.' Her confidence level went up all year."

* Kacie Ritter

Scott City, jr., outside hitter

Notes: Ritter had a big year in her first year with the Rams after transferring from Advance. The junior, playing for her father who was in his first year as head coach at Scott City, finished with 231 kills, 25 aces, 58 digs and 83 assists. Ritter earned all-region and all-district honors.

Coach's comment: "She did a very good job for me," Scott City coach Carl Ritter Jr. said. "She was definitely the go-to person. She's just a good all-around player. She pretty much can hit with anyone in Southeast Missouri."
