Southeast Missourian Track roundup: Perryville, Sikeston showcase area's best

The Perryville track & field team hosted the 28th annual Perryville Invitational on April 2 at Perryville High School.

Perryville junior Ellie Gerler won both the discus (106-02.00) and shot put event (33-06.75). Fellow junior Blair Hopkins won the two-mile event with a time of 10:33.64 and the Pirates won the boys’ 4x800-meter relay (8:55.62).

St. Vincent saw both a male and female runner win an event in the meet. Clayton Gremaud won the 400m race with a time of 52.96 after placing second in the 200m. Reagan Meyer also won the 400m with a time of 1:01.74.

Hayden Vangennip led Woodland by placing first in the 800m race with a time of 2:07.98.

Claire Pfautsch led the small Notre Dame contingent by winning the triple jump with a mark of 33-10.75.

Jefferson’s Margaret Wrigley won three individual events, placing first in the 100m, 200m, and long jump.

Bell City freshman Mollie Mannon won the long jump with a mark of 5.68 meters, which met the MileSplit US First Team standard.

Malden’s Angela Dobbins won the high jump (1.68m) and placed 2nd in the long jump (5.52m), both marks met the MileSplit US Second Team standard.

New Madrid freshman Amya Bills won both the 100m (12.74) and 200m (26.82) races. Similarly, Adria Marvin of Van Buren won both the mile (6:06.17) and two-mile (13:55.56) races.
