Notre Dame's Jesse Schott felt like he wasn't hitting the ball well entering the SEMO Conference baseball tournament.

"I'm trying to get out of a slump that I've had for a while now," he said. "I'm trying to simplify everything down to just hit the ball. That's about it right now. Just hit the ball."

There haven't been any signs of a slump.

Schott doubled and homered in the Bulldogs' 10-0 victory over New Madrid County Central in the quarterfinal round. But that performance only was a tuneup for the semifinals.

Schott delivered the winning blow against Dexter. Teammate Cody Heisserer blasted a grand slam to even the score in the sixth inning. Schott then stepped into the box and hit his second homer of the game to give his team a 10-9 lead.

"I had a lot of adrenaline pumping, and I just tried to calm myself down," Schott said. "I said, 'Just hit it. Don't try to do too much with it.'"

Schott finished 4 for 4 with two homers, a double and a single in the 10-9 semifinal win over Dexter. He drove in four runs in the victory.

Schott finished with three homers and three doubles through the first two games of the tournament.
