Kelly track and field team member Londyn Backfisch is the Southeast Missourian Player of the Week.
The senior standout is heading back to the state sectional meet after missing last season with a torn ACL.
Backfisch qualified for three events at Saturday's district meet on the Southeast Missouri State campus -- the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the high jump.
"I was happy with how I did today," she said.
Backfisch, who won the 200-meter race with a time of 26.11 seconds, won the state title in that event as a sophomore.
She also claimed the top spot in the high jump, setting a new personal best with a leap of 5 feet 2 inches.
"I was really happy with that," she said.
Backfisch finished second in the 100 with a time of 12.56 to move on to the next level of competition.
While she would like another state title, Backfisch told the Southeast Missourian on Saturday that she is just happy to be back on the track competing.
"I'm hoping I can do it, but I'm happy with where I'm at," Backfisch said at the end of the day. "Just being out here is a blessing."
