Jackson wrestler Levi Hobeck is the Southeast Missourian Athlete of the Week.
Hobeck was just one of seven standouts on the Indians' team to capture an individual title on Saturday at the 37th annual Tiger Classic hosted by Cape Central.
But Hobeck was the only Indian to claim a second consecutive championship at the event. Two others -- seniors Levi Rayburn Jordan Reisenbichler -- won for the second time in their careers.
"It was one of my goals," Hobeck, a senior, told the Missourian of his repeat performance.
Hobeck defeated Mick Anthony from Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tenn. in a 5-3 decision to claim the 145-pound title.
According to Jackson coach Steve Wachter, who has been a part of the program for 29 years as a coach, Hobeck was part of a record performance at the meet for Jackson.
"Maybe four is the most champions we've ever had. Never even close to seven," Wachter said. "We had a great finals."
Hobeck remained undefeated and improved to 17-0 on the season with after his win in the final.
