Chaffee sophomore Cody Payne did a little of everything against Central.
The right-hander threw a one-hitter and went 2 for 4 at the plate to lead the Red Devils past the Tigers 7-2 last week.
He struck out seven and walked one. He only allowed three baserunners.
"All my pitches were working like I wanted," Payne said. "Just getting ahead and keeping them off-balance. My arm was feeling great. The warm weather helps a lot."
Chaffee coach Brian Horrell said he didn't consider lifting Payne after six innings despite entering the game trying to keep Payne at 80 pitches.
"He was only at about 84 or 85 pitches into the last inning," Horrell said. "We felt like he deserved a chance to finish it."
Chaffee's win over the Tigers was the first time the Red Devils beat the Tigers since 2001.
