Chaffee senior Alex Crowe wanted to make the most of his last game in the Southeast Missourian Christmas tournament.
The guard scored scored 31 points to lead the Red Devils past Oak Ridge in the consolation title game. He went 8 of 10 from the field.
"I could tell in warmups," he said. "I was making about everything. I kind of get into one of those zones. I don't really think about it, I just shoot it. That's when I'm at my best."
Crowe drained 6 of his 8 3-point attempts in the game.
"Once they started leaving it open, we took advantage," he said. "Teammates finding me. I wasn't the only one. We had numerous people hitting outside shots for us today."
Chaffee coach Josh Govreau said Crowe's hot shooting is nothing new.
"He's one of those kids who's always in the gym shooting," Govreau said. "When he finds his stroke, it's hard for him to get off of it. He's been shooting the ball decent this year, but he's never been just completely on. Him coming out and hitting a couple open shots was a good sign for us, I thought."
Crowe helped the Red Devils reach the consolation title game by scoring 12 points against Scott City in his team's tournament opener, a 66-41 loss. He followed that game with 17 points against Meadow Heights in an 85-29 win and 17 against Oran in a 68-64 come-from-behind victory in the consolation semifinals.
Crowe earned a spot on the all-tournament for the second consecutive year.
