Saxony Lutheran defeated Crystal City 9-1 on Thursday at Saxony Lutheran High School.
Crystal City struck first with an RBI groundout from Cyle Schaumburg in the first inning. Andrew Hahs started the game on the mound for the Crusaders and held the Hornets scoreless after that first run.
Saxony could only get something going offensively once they broke out in the seventh. A two-run home run from Carson Birk got the Crusaders the lead and they never looked back, scoring seven more runs that inning. Brayden Moore led Saxony at the plate, going 2-2 with two RBIs.
Saxony (1-0) will play Fredericktown at home on Friday.
__East Carter 9, Neelyville 4__
East Carter defeated Neelyville 9-4 on Thursday at East Carter High School.
Neelyville came out hot, scoring three runs in the first inning with an RBI single from Austin Sheppard and a dropped third strike. East Carter struck back in the first, scoring two runs of their own with a couple of sacrifice flyballs.
East Carter used a big second inning to take a 6-3 lead and Neelyville would score one more but never take the lead back as the Redbirds held on for the win.
Benjamin Stahl led the day at the plate for East Carter going 3-4 with four RBIs, while Sheppard led the Tigers going 1-3 with an RBI.
East Carter (2-3) travels to Lesterville on Friday at 4 p.m. and Neelyville (3-2) gets Naylor at home on Monday at 4 p.m.
__Doniphan 8, Bloomfield 2__
Doniphan defeated Bloomfield 8-2 on Thursday at Bloomfield High School.
Bloomfield got on the board first with an RBI groundout from Justice Cossey but Doniphan took the lead off an RBI from Keaton Willcut combined with an error. Bloomfield managed to tie the game at two before Doniphan went on a tear, scoring three runs in the second and two in the sixth.
Willcut led the Dons with a 1-2 day and two RBIs while Cossey led Bloomfield with their lone RBI.
Doniphan (2-0) goes to Fredericktown on Monday at 4:30 p.m. and Bloomfield (1-1) travels to Bell City on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
__Kelly 6, East Prarie 1__
Kelly defeated East Prarie 6-1 on Thursday at Kelly High School.
Kelly drew first blood with an RBI double from Reece Eftink in the first inning and extended their lead in the sixth inning with a couple of RBI singles. East Prarie prevented the shutout with a groundball from Ty Wallace in the seventh inning.
Eftink led the Hawks with a 2-3 day and two RBIs and Peyton Hodges led the Eagles with a 1-3 day.
Kelly (2-1) plays Chaffee at home on Monday at 4:30 p.m. while East Prarie (1-1) travels to Portageville on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
__Advance 13, Bell City 0__
Advance defeated Bell City 13-0 in five innings at Advance High School.
The Hornets blew the game open in the third inning where they scored eight runs on four hits, including a triple from Jaxon Limbaugh. On the mound for Advance, Jackson Bailey and Jed Garner combined for the shutout, and Bailey was awarded the win.
Advance (1-0) will play in the Charleston Wood Bat Tournament on Friday and Saturday while Bell City (1-1) plays Bloomfield at home on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
New Madrid County Central 7, Poplar Bluff 1
New Madrid County Central defeated Poplar Bluff 7-1 on Thursday at New Madrid County Central High School.
New Madrid came out strong in the fourth inning, putting up four runs on three hits, including a two-RBI double by Slade Courtois. Poplar Bluff avoided the shutout with an RBI single by David Durbin in the fifth.
The Eagles were led at the plate by Ayden McCanless who went 3-4 with two RBIs and the Mules were led by Durbin with a 1-3 day and the RBI.
New Madrid (1-0) travels to Dexter on Friday at 4 p.m. while Poplar Bluff (1-2) goes to Cape Central on Saturday at 11 a.m.
__Portageville 2, Oran 0__
Portageville defeated Oran 2-0 on Thursday at Oran High School.
Donney Benthal had the complete game shutout for Portageville, only allowing two hits and striking out 11 batters. The Bulldogs were led at the plate by Ronald Adams who went 1-3 on the day with two RBIs off a double in the fifth inning.
Oran was led by Parker Bryant who went 1-2 and reached base on a walk.
Portageville (4-0) travels to East Prarie on Friday at 4:30 p.m. while Oran (0-1) will play Ellington on Saturday at 11 a.m.
