Zalma's Brent Overbey scored a game-high 39 points to lead the Bulldogs' boys basketball team to an 84-77 conference win over the Meadow Heights Panthers on Tuesday at Zalma High School.

The junior knocked down seven 3-pointers in the contest. Clinging to a one-point lead at halftime, Zalma pulled away in the third quarter, during which it outscored Meadow Heights 24-15.

Earlier this month, Overbey scored 25 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 67-35 home victory over Oak Ridge and also had a 31-point performance to help guide Zalma to a 85-80 win over Puxico.

The Bulldogs are off to their best start since the 2010-11 season, when they finished with a 16-7 record before falling to Leopold in the second round of the Class 1, District 3 tournament.
