Braion Owens, the star running back for the Central football team who also starts as a linebacker on defense, saved one of his best performances of the year for the Tigers' Class 4 state semifinal victory over St. Charles West.

Owens carried the ball 32 times in Central's 42-21 win that sent the team to the state championship for the first time in school history. He finished with three touchdowns and 193 yards rushing, including 149 in a dominant second half, a week after running for 209 yards in a state quarterfinal win over Affton.

He now has 21 touchdowns and 1,622 yards on the season.
