Southeast Missouri State sophomore forward Tyler Stone picked up his second consecutive and league-high third Ohio Valley Conference newcomer of the week award for men's basketball on Monday.
The transfer from the University of Missouri averaged 21 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 60.7 percent from the field (17 of 28) in two games last week.
Stone became the third OVC player to score 30 or more points in a contest this year when he had a career-high 30 during a loss at Central Arkansas on Dec. 5. He hit 12 of 18 field goals and 6 of 7 free throws, while adding eight rebounds and two blocks.
Stone followed up with 12 points and nine rebounds during Saturday's home loss to Missouri-Kansas City.
Stone is Southeast's leading scorer with a 14.9 average, which ranks sixth in the OVC. He also is fifth in the conference in rebounding with a 7.1 mark and eighth in field-goal percentage (54.0).
Southeast (4-6), which has suffered two straight losses, returns to action Dec. 19 with a home game against SMU.
