Southeast Missouri State senior linebacker Blake Peiffer and senior offensive tackle Evan Conrad have each received another preseason All-American honor, this time by the College Sporting News.
Conrad was a first-team pick while Peiffer garnered second-team honors.
Both were also recently named to the Sports Network preseason All-America team, Peiffer on the first unit and Conrad on the second unit.
Peiffer has been selected to several other preseason All-American squads and was among 20 players named to the Sports Network's Buck Buchanan Watch List. The Buchanan award will be given to the nation's top defensive player on the FCS level.
Peiffer landed a spot on four All-American squads in 2011 after leading the Ohio Valley Conference in tackles with a school-record 151.
The Jackson High School graduate ranked third in the nation with an average of 13.7 tackles per game and was the Redhawks' only first-team all-OVC honoree a year ago.
Conrad, who started nine games at left tackle and two at right guard last year, helped Southeast's offense lead the OVC in rushing (233.1 yards per game) for the second straight season.
Conrad, a native of Columbia, Mo., has made 32 consecutive starts and played in all 34 games during his Southeast career.
Southeast players report to preseason camp today. They'll have conditioning tests Thursday followed by their first practice Friday.
Former Southeast football standout Edgar Jones signed with the Kansas City Chiefs this week as a linebacker after spending the previous five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.
Jones, an All-American defensive end at Southeast, joined the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He saw action in 41 games with the Ravens, contributing as both a linebacker and tight end while also performing on special teams.
Jones is among four former Southeast players currently on active NFL rosters.
The others are offensive lineman Eugene Amano (Tennessee Titans), offensive lineman Dan Connolly (New England Patriots) and cornerback Dimitri Patterson (Cleveland Browns).
