Southeast Missouri State track & field athlete and Central graduate Chris Martin continued the Redhawks' string of Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors.

The sophomore was named the male field athlete of the week on Wednesday. The Redhawks have earned at least one of the OVC's weekly field athlete awards -- men's and women's -- throughout the first six weeks.

Martin's jump of 52 feet, 1 3/4 inches won the triple jump at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Illinois, over the weekend. The distance is tied for 12th in the nation.

The Redhawks travel to Bloomington, Indiana, on Friday for Indiana University's Hoosier Hills Invite.

Cross Country

The Southeast cross country men's and women's teams each earned All-Academic Team honors from the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, it was announced Wednesday.

The Redhawks women's squad posted a 3.77 GPA, which was fourth highest in the nation and close behind South Carolina's top GPA of 3.79. It's the fifth time in seven seasons that the women's team has received this recognition.

The men's team had a GPA of 3.28 that was tied for 53rd, and it marks the seventh year in a row for the honors.

There were 226 women's and 179 men's cross country teams that were awarded USTFCCCA All-American Team honors.
