Southeast Missouri State junior Ayonna Cartwright and senior Blake Smith picked up Ohio Valley Conference weekly track & field honors.
Cartwright was named the Co-Female Track Athlete of the Week while Smith received Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Cartwright won the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter at the Redhawks Invite last weekend. Her time of 6.83 seconds in the 55-meter broke the school record, is the top time in the OVC this season and is tied for 26th nationally. She ran the 200-meter in 24.88, which ranks first in the conference.
Smith, from Jackson, won the 55-meter and finished second in the long jump over the weekend.
His time of 6.19 in the 55-meter run tied his own school record. It's also the fastest OVC time and is 19th in the country.
He posted a jump of 24 feet, 10 inches, which is second in the conference and 22nd nationally.
The Redhawks are slated to compete at the OVC Indoor Championships in Charleston, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday.
The Southeast softball team has added the Southeastern Louisiana Lion Classic Scramble to its schedule this weekend.
The tournament fills the void of the All-Missouri Cancer Classic in Springfield, Missouri, which was cancelled due to weather. The Redhawks (2-3) play the host Lions at 3 p.m. Friday and Saint Louis at 5:30 p.m.
They'll then face Ohio Valley Conference opponent UT-Martin at 2 p.m. Saturday and Arkanas at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The Southeast baseball team has altered its weekend schedule, too.
The Redhawks (3-4) face Bradley in New Orleans this weekend.
They will play at 11 a.m. Friday and a doubleheader beginning at noon on Friday.
