Southeast Missouri State's Alex Winkelman earns OVC pitching honor

Southeast Missouri State junior Alex Winkelman retained the Redhawks' hold on the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for a third straight week.

Winkelman followed teammates Joey Lucchesi and Travis Hayes as recipients of the honor after throwing a six-hit shutout at Eastern Illinois over the weekend.

The left-hander struck out four and walked one in recording his first victory of the season in the Redhawks' 4-0 victory.

Winkelman (1-2) has a 3.57 ERA on the season, which ranks fourth in the OVC.
