The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team won nine consecutive sets on its way to claiming the championship in its annual spring tournament Saturday at Houck Field House.

Southeast beat Southern Indiana, Missouri-St. Louis and Murray State on its way to the title.

The Redhawks defeated Southern Indiana 13-25, 25-9, 25-22, 25-15 in the opening match of the tournament. Colleen Yarber and Andrea Baylin led the Redhawks as they combined for 23 kills. Berkley Idel led the defense with 28 digs.

Southeast followed with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-14 rout of UMSL. The Redhawks were led by Yarber with 14 kills. Julie Shives paced the defense with 16 digs.

The Redhawks closed out the tournament with a 25-21, 25-15, 27-25 sweep of Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State. Yarber had a team-high 10 kills. Idel led the defense with 13 digs.
