The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team added a middle blocker to its 2016 signing class with the addition of Krista Berns.
Berns, a native of Rockford, Illinois, was announced as the program's newest member on Monday.
"Krista embodies all of the values of the Redhawks volleyball program and I know that she will make an immediate impact," Redhawks coach Julie Yankus said in a press release. "Her athleticism, height, and volleyball I.Q. will definitely help us both offensively and defensively."
While a scholar-athlete and team captain during her prep career at Boylan Catholic High School, Berns also competed with Club Fusion volleyball. She intends on pursuing a degree in psychology.
"Krista adds a lot of diversity to our offense because she can hit a lot of different sets and she will absolutely be one of our best blockers," Yankus said. "In addition to her volleyball skills, Krista is a dedicated student and an overall great fit for our program."
Berns joins outside hitter Mikayla Kuhlmann as the second member of the 2016 signing class.
