Two school records highlighted performances by Southeast Missouri State track and field athletes during Friday's annual Redhawks Invitational.

The Redhawks won seven events in their only home meet of the indoor season held at the Student Recreation Center on campus.

Other squads that participated were Memphis, Mississippi College and Bethel.

"Good night for us. We did what we needed to do tonight. We had a great crowd and they did a great job supporting our kids," Southeast coach Eric Crumpecker said.

Junior Jill Schnurbusch, a Notre Dame Regional High School graduate, broke the school pole-vault record for the fifth time this season with a height of 12 feet, 9 inches.

Senior Josh Uchtman broke Southeast's shot put record with a distance of 60-11 1/4. He was also third in the weight throw.

Junior Craig Robinson had a career day, winning the weight throw with a personal-best 64-9 1/4 and earning another personal best in the shot put with a second-place 55-11.

Freshman Jessica Brown won the long jump with a personal best 19-0 1/2. She was second in the high jump with a personal best 5-3.

Other winners were freshman Mohamed Souleiman in the 1,000 meters, freshman Mary Dohgone in the 1,000 meters and freshman Tianna Borner in the 300 meters. Dohogne is a Central High School graduate.

Freshman Blake Smith, a Jackson High School graduate, was second in both the long jump and 55 meters.

Southeast will compete Friday and Saturday at the Ohio Valley Conference indoor meet in Nashville, Tenn.

Gymnastics

Southeast posted its highest score of the season but remained winless as powerhouse Illinois-Chicago rolled 195-250-191.900 on Saturday at Houck Field House.

The Redhawks (0-6) tied for first place in two of the four events --Taylor Westrick on beam (9.875) and Emma Garrett on floor (9.800).

Megan Fosnow tied for third on vault (9.800) and placed second all-around (38.525).

"I am more pleased with today's performance than what we've been doing this season," Southeast coach Kristi Ewasko said. "We got great showings from gymnasts like Megan Fosnow, Taylor and Emma."

Southeast visits Iowa State on Monday.
