The Southeast Missouri State women's tennis team suffered a 4-3 loss Sunday at Ohio Valley Conference opponent SIU Edwardsville.
Southeast (2-4, 0-2) and SIUE (5-8, 1-1) split the three singles matches after the Cougars won two of three doubles contest to claim the doubles point that proved decisive.
Singles winners for the Redhawks were Elizabeth Nyenwe at No. 2, Nikole Novikova at No. 3 and Jessica Courtnell at No. 4.
Southeast's doubles' victory came from the No. 3 squad of Courtnell and Melissa Martin.
The Redhawks return to action Friday, hosting OVC opponent Tennessee-Martin at 3 p.m.

Southeast will receive a rare visit from an Atlantic Coast Conference program Wednesday when Georgia Tech comes to Cape Girardeau for a 2 p.m. contest.
The Redhawks are 8-12 overall and 1-1 in OVC play after splitting Saturday's conference-opening doubleheader at Murray State. Sunday's series finale was rained out. It has not yet been determined if the contest will be made up.
Georgia Tech is 13-13 overall and 2-1 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets play at SIU Edwardsville today before visiting Southeast.
