The Southeast Missouri State women's tennis team closed its season Sunday with its eighth consecutive loss.

The Redhawks sustained a 5-2 loss to visiting Austin Peay at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.

Southeast finished its season 9-13 overall and 3-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Redhawks beat their first three OVC opponents but went 0-7 over their final seven conference matches.

Austin Peay also closed OVC play with a 3-7 mark as it improved to 6-13 overall.

Valeriia Nagovitcina and Annisa Warasanti provided Southeast's two points with wins in singles play. Nagovitcina rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-9) win against Andra Cornea at No. 2 singles, while Warasanti swept Jovana Karac, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4.

Softball

SIU Edwardsville finished off a three-game home sweep of Southeast with a 3-0 win Sunday.

It was the second time the Redhawks were shutout in the series and their eighth loss in a row.

SIUE scored two runs in the second inning and added a single run in the fifth to improve to 20-18 overall and 12-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Southeast fell to 7-25 overall and 2-12 in OVC play.

The Redhawks managed four hits off winning pitcher Haley Chambers (12-11), who struck out 11 batters and walked two.

Aubrey Denno (3-6) pitched all six inning for Southeast and sustained the loss. She allowed six hits and three earned runs. She walked two and struck out two.

Savannah Carpenter and Kelsey Gass each had a double for the Redhawks.

Rachel Keller had two hits for SIUE and all three RBIs. She had a two-run single in the second and an RBI single in the fifth.
