The Southeast Missouri State women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season Sunday, beating host Bradley 6-1 in Peoria, Ill. The Southeast Missouri State women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season Sunday, beating host Bradley 6-1 in Peoria, Ill.

Southeast (1-3) won five of the six singles matches and two of three doubles to win the doubles point.

Singles winners for the Redhawks were Nikole Novikova, Elizabeth Nyenwe, Jessica Courtnell, Melissa Martin and Heather Robinson.

Martin remained undefeated.

Southeast returns to action with its first home match against SIU Carbondale on March 6.

Softball

Southeast concluded a winless weekend at the Blues City Classic in Memphis, Tenn., on Sunday.

Southeast (4-7) lost 1-0 to host Memphis to finish 0-5 in the three-day tournament.

Memphis scored the game's only run in the top of the first inning on two Southeast errors.

Xia Wilson had two of the Redhawks' three hits. Alora Marble pitched a five-hitter.

The Redhawks suffered a 4-1 loss to Missouri State late Saturday night.

Evan Sallis and Alene Bethel had two of the Redhawks' seven hits. Taylor Cowan allowed just four hits and two earned runs in going the distance in the circle.

Sallis was named to the all-tournament team. She batted .313 in the five games.

Southeast is back in action Saturday with two games at the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament hosted by Missouri-Kansas City.
