Southeast Missouri State senior Savannah Carpenter capped her four-year career as a first-team all-Ohio Valley Conference selection, it was announced Tuesday night.
Carpenter, from Newbury Park, California, was also a first-team all-conference player in 2014.
She started all 47 games that she played in -- 41 at first base, five at designated hitter and one at third. Her batting average of .296 ranked third on the team, but she hit .342 with a .562 slugging percentage in 27 conference games to pace the Redhawks.
She drove in a team-high 30 runs, scored 20 and had seven doubles and seven home runs on the season.
Carpenter was the lone all-OVC pick for the Redhawks, finished their second season under coach Mark Redburn with a record of 16-33. They went 10-17 in conference and failed to secure a spot in the eight-team OVC tournament, which begins today in Oxford, Alabama.
Regular-season champion and top-seeded Jacksonville State had six of the 12 first-team selections. JSU's Ella Denes was named Player of the Year, Whitney Gillespie was named Pitcher of the Year and Jana McGinnis was named Coach of the Year after leading the Gamecocks to a 26-0 conference mark. Austin Peay's Danielle Liermann was named Freshman of the Year.
