The Southeast Missouri State softball team dropped a doubleheader to Evansville Thursday in Evansville, Ind.
The Redhawks lost 6-5 in extra innings before falling 8-4 in the second game of the day.
Southeast led 5-3 in the sixth inning of the first game after a three-run home run by Meaghan Touchette and an RBI single by Savannah Carpenter, who went 2 for 4.
Evansville answered with a pair of runs to tie it in the home half of the inning.
After a scoreless seventh, Evansville's Kayla Fortner, who was placed on second due to a tie-break rule and advanced to third on a groundout, scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
Southeast took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Summer Burger stole home, but The Purple Aces countered with a pair of runs and then took a 3-1 lead in the fourth.
Keaira Schilling (1-4) took the loss. Southeast's pitchers gave up six runs on 10 hits.
The Redhawks took a 2-0 in the second game. Rachael Duncan, who was 2-for-3, had an RBI single in the first inning and Touchette blasted a solo homer run in the top of the second.
Evansville scored five runs in the bottom of the inning, but Southeast cut into the lead with a Haylee Krack homer to start the third.
The Purple Aces extended their lead to 8-3 on a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Southeast closed the scoring with a single run in the seventh inning.
Aubrey Denno (2-5) gave up five runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings and was tabbed with the loss.
Southeast (5-13) has lost six games in a row. The Redhawks will look to snap that skid when they open Ohio Valley Conference action against Eastern Kentucky in a doubleheader Saturday in Richmond, Ky.
