What constitutes a scoring splurge is a relative matter.

On Sunday, the Southeast Missouri State soccer team went on a binge with a pair of goals for a 2-1 victory over visiting Morehead State at Houck Stadium.

The goals occurred in a six-minute span late in the first half, matching the Redhawks' output from their previous 300-plus minutes and powering Southeast (8-5 overall, 5-2 OVC) to its third consecutive victory.

Senior forward Breana Beine scored 31 minutes, 50 seconds into the contest, after sophomore midfielder Jennifer Antonacci crossed a pass into the box and sophomore Natasha Minor challenged the goalkeeper for the ball, which glanced off both players, according to Southeast assistant coach Adam Kleman. The ball caromed to Beine, who kicked her team-leading seventh goal of the season into the empty net.

At the 37:48 mark, Beine provided the assist on sophomore midfielder Kaitlin Kuznacic's first goal as a Redhawk. Kuznacic unloaded a shot from 30 yards out that found the netting in the upper left corner.

Both goals came against Morehead State keeper Elizabeth Floyd, who did not record a save in the game before being replaced by Kaitlynn Murphy shortly after the second goal. Murphy was required to make just one save over the final 49 minutes, 18 seconds of the contest.

Morehead State (8-5-5, 3-2-2) answered with an unassisted goal by Kimberley Golden less than five minutes after Kuznacic scored, but the Eagles never could net the equalizer despite outshooting Southeast 21-8 for the game. Morehead State also held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Redhawks goalkeeper Kindra Lierz made 10 saves in the win, which broke a string of three consecutive 1-0 games for the Redhawks. Southeast had won the previous two one-goal games, including a home triumph over Eastern Kentucky on Friday night.
