The Southeast Missouri State team yielded four goals in the first half to host Murray State and lost 4-1 on Sunday in Ohio Valley Conference soccer action.
Taylor Richerson touched off the scoring spree in the 16th minute, and Taylor Stevens headed in a pass a minute later for a 2-0 advantage.
Richerson struck again eight minutes later, and Caroline Ashton deposited a rebound in the 38th minute for a 4-0 halftime lead.
Southeast (6-5-2 overall, 1-2-1 OVC) avoided the shutout on senior Jenna Collingridge's first goal of the season in the 77th minute.
Murray State, which improved to 3-0 in the OVC and 7-4 overall, outshot Southeast 17-6 in the game. Twelve of Racers' shots were on goal, with Redhawks sophomore goalkeeper Kindra Lierz making eight saves.
Alex Steigerwald made three saves in her first start in goal for the Racers.
Southeast will return to conference action at 3 p.m. Thursday when it faces Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Kentucky.
