The Southeast Missouri State soccer team suffered its second straight road loss to begin the season Sunday, 2-1 at Missouri-Kansas City.

While Southeast fell to 0-2, UMKC improved to 2-0. Both wins have come against Ohio Valley Conference opponents, including SIU Edwardsville 1-0 Friday.

Southeast, which opened the season with Friday's 4-0 loss at Nebraska, led UMKC 1-0 at halftime.

Freshman Natasha Minor's goal 8 minutes, 1 second into the contest off a rebound gave the Redhawks their first lead of the season. Fellow freshman Christina Rohde picked up the assist.

UMKC, after holding a 10-4 edge in shots during the first half, also came out strong in the second half, attempting five shots in the first 13:06.

The Kangaroos pulled even 17:57 into the final period, then went ahead for good with 18:47 remaining. Southeast had only one shot the rest of the way.

UMKC outshot Southeast 17-6 and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Ashton Aubuchon recorded nine saves in the nets for the Redhawks.

Southeast returns to action Friday with a 6:30 p.m. matchup at Missouri.
