The Southeast Missouri State soccer team kicked off a four-game homestand Friday night with a 2-1 overtime win over Belmont.
Southeast improved to 5-5-3 overall and 3-1-2 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Redhawks are 5-1-2 in their last eight matches. Belmont fell to 4-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the OVC.
Freshman Jennifer Antonacci, a graduate of Cor Jesu Academy in St. Louis, scored her first collegiate goal 28 seconds into overtime to give the Redhawks the victory.
The Redhawks scored first in the 18th minute of play when junior Breana Beine, a transfer from Evansville, scored her first goal at Southeast.
Aubuchon recorded her first career point with an assist on the play.
"That goal is a huge confidence boost for Bre," Southeast coach Heather Nelson said in a release. "She's had good looks and been very close to scoring, but either the keeper has made a good save or the ball has just missed by inches. Hopefully she can get on a roll and balance out our attack."
It took barely more than five minutes after halftime for the Bruins to tie the score and it was 1-1 after regulation before Southeast quickly ended things in overtime.
Antonacci scored the winning goal with help from freshman Chistina Rohde and sophomore Erin Shulman.
Antonacci and Beine became the sixth and seventh Redhawks to record a goal this season. Shulman leads Southeast with four goals while Rohde and Natasha Minor are tied with three assists each.
Belmont finished with an 11-10 advantage in shots while Southeast had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Aubuchon made four saves and is now three saves from tying Lindsay Pickering's school record of 228 saves.
"Ashton was very effective today," Nelson said. "The game was played at both ends of the field, when she got the ball in her hand, she helped us transition. A number of our attacks tonight were generated from her punts."
The Redhawks host Tennessee Tech today in a 1 p.m. OVC matchup.
