The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team went winless in its first four matches under rookie coach Julie Folliard.

Southeast suffered two losses both Friday and Saturday during the season-opening Memphis Invitational.

The Redhawks began the tournament Friday with a 25-18, 25-20, 25-17 loss to Georgia State, followed by a 19-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-12 setback to host Memphis.

Saturday's action saw Southeast fall to Alabama A&M 17-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19 and Arkansas-Little Rock 25-23, 25-14, 25-21.

Southeast junior Brittney Kalinoski was named to the all-tournament squad after collecting 40 kills, 27 digs and five service aces in the four matches.

Sophomore setter Julie Shives just missed a triple-double against Georgia State with 19 assists, 10 digs and nine kills. Kalinoski had eight kills and seven digs.

Kalinoski had 11 kills and 13 digs against Memphis. Sophomore Colleen Yarber had 10 kills and nine digs. Shives just missed another triple-double with 28 assists, 10 digs and nine kills. Redshirt freshman Erica Beck added 10 digs.

Yarber posted a career-high 15 kills against Alabama A&M to go along with 12 digs. Kalinoski had 11 kills, while senior Holly Reynolds added 10. Shives contributed 44 assists and 11 digs. Senior Paige Dossey and junior Samantha Lowman added 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

Kalinoski put down 10 kills against Arkansas-Little Rock. Lowman had 11 digs, while Shives posted 26 assists and nine digs.

Southeast returns to action Friday, when it faces host Indiana at the Indiana tournament.

Soccer at home

The Southeast women's soccer team opens its home schedule today when Arkansas State visits Houck Stadium for a 1 p.m. start.

That will be the Redhawks' only home action among their first nine games.

Southeast is 1-1, while ASU is 1-0-1. The Redhawks have won all five previous meetings against the Red Wolves by shutout, including 1-0 on the road last year.

"They are well organized, well coached and bring a physical component to the game," Southeast coach Heather Nelson said about ASU. "I expect a nail-biter."
