The Southeast Missouri State softball team concluded its season-long seven-game homestand Wednesday by sweeping a nonconference doubleheader.

Southeast routed Middle Tennessee State 8-2 and 10-3 to improve its record to 16-24. The Blue Raiders are 12-22.

Simone Patterson went 4 for 4 with two triples, while Taylor Cowan had five hits and three RBIs to lead Southeast's offense.

Evan Sallis also had four hits on the day. The Redhawks outhit MTSU 23-12.

Alora Marble pitched all seven innings to win the opener. She allowed six hits while striking out seven and walking one.

Cowan and Sallis both had two hits. Cowan and Patterson added two RBIs apiece.

Shea Cothren notched the second-game victory in the circle with four innings of shutout relief. She allowed three hits.

Cowan and Patterson led the way with three hits apiece. Sallis and Kaitlin Wallace both added two hits. Wallace and Jamie Woodworth both had three RBIs, and Sallis added two RBIs.

Southeast resumes its Ohio Valley Conference schedule Saturday with a doubleheader at Austin Peay.

Southeast earned three OVC athlete of the week awards for the third week in a row.

Senior Josh Uchtman (co-male field athlete), junior Jerika Lewis (co-female track athlete) and freshman Jessica Brown (co-female field athlete) were honored for their performances at Saturday's Joey Haines Invitational.

Uchtman finished second in the shot put and third in the discus. His shot put of 57 feet, 3 inches is the top mark in the OVC this season. His 157-7 discus toss ranks fourth in the league.

Lewis ran a career-best time of 24.04 seconds to win the 200 meters. She also was second in the 400 (55.67) and helped lead the Redhawks' 400 and 1,600 relay teams to first-place finishes. Her 200 time is second in the OVC, while her 400 ranks fourth.

Brown posted career bests to win the long jump (19 feet, 2 1/2 inches) and place second in the triple jump (37-3). Her long jump mark leads the OVC.

Southeast competes Saturday at the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Ky.
