Southeast Missouri State baseball standout Joey Lucchesi picked up more All-America and all-region honors on Wednesday.
The left-handed pitcher, who became the Redhawks' highest draft pick ever on Friday when he was selected in the fourth round of the MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres, was named a second-team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association as well as a second-team All-South selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings.
He'd already been named a first-team Louisville Slugger All-American by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper -- the first in program history -- and a third-team selection by Baseball America.
Lucchesi was the 114th pick of the draft and reportedly signed with the Padres for $100,000. He is slated to report to the organization's Class A Short Season Affiliate Tri-City Dust Devils in Pasco, Washington.
Lucchesi, the first two-time Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, leaves Southeast as the program's career strikeout leader with 242 and holds the school and OVC single-season strikeout record with a Division I-leading 149. He went 17-7 at Southeast with a 2.62 ERA.
