Southeast Missouri State sophomore forward Tyler Stone has been named the Ohio Valley Conference newcomer of the week for a league-high sixth time this season.
Stone averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and two assists in two Southeast wins last week. He shot 63.3 percent from the field (19 of 30) and added three blocks.
Stone scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed six rebounds against Tennessee-Martin on Thursday, then had 20 points and nine rebounds at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday.
Stone is the OVC's seventh-leading scorer at 15 points per game and ranks third in rebounding at 7.2. He is also fourth in field-goal percentage (54.9) and fifth in blocks (1.2).
Southeast (14-11, 9-4), third in the 11-team OVC, plays its final home game Wednesday when 14th-ranked Murray State (24-1, 12-1) visits for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
There were about 500 tickets left for sale as of Monday afternoon.
