Southeast Missouri State senior gymnast Emma Garrett was placed on the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District at-large Team on Friday.
Garrett, a dietetics major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, earned second-team all-Midwest Independent Conference honors this year in the floor exercise. Her career-best 9.925 score against Eastern Michigan on March 3 is tied for the sixth-best in school history.
The award puts Garrett on the CoSIDA Academic All-American ballot, joining 91 Division I student-athletes.
Southeast has added a sixth member to its 2014 recruiting class with Friday's signing of all-region junior college infielder Haylee Krack.
Krack transfers to Southeast from Kirkwood (Iowa) Community College, which went 57-5 this year and advanced to the junior college Division II national tournament.
Krack, a native of Moline, Ill., hit .404 with 19 home runs, 15 doubles, 59 runs scored and 71 RBIs this year. She batted .385 with seven doubles, two triples, 17 home runs, 55 RBIs and 61 runs scored as a freshman in 2012.
"We look for Haylee to make an immediate impact offensively. She is a power hitter, makes contact and has very few strikeouts. She plays a good corner at third base," Southeast coach Lana Richmond said in a release. "We are happy to sign such a high caliber player and look forward to what she can bring to our program."
