Southeast Missouri State cross country runners end season at regional

The Southeast Missouri State cross country teams concluded their seasons Friday at the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Missouri State in Springfield, Mo.

Southeast's men finished 23rd and the women placed 26th.

No qualification was necessary to compete in the meet that featured some of the nation's top squads.

"This was the largest participation in the hardest region in the country," Southeast coach Ryan Lane said in a release. "The women improved from last year's performance and some returners on the men ran very well."

Charles Johnson set the pace for Southeast's men with a time of 32 minutes, 34 seconds in the 10-kilometer race, good for 84th place.

Brent Collins was 118th (33:10), followed by Tyler Mullen (124th, 33:19), Nate Shipley (139th, 33:42), Craig Munie (158th, 34:13), Alex Zisser (163rd, 34:27) and Ryan Anderson (167th, 34:44).

Rebekah Lawson led Southeast's women, finishing 53rd in 21:59 over the 6-kilometer course.

Jenny Govero was 158th (23:49), followed by Lindsey Seabaugh (166th, 24:03), Maria Trowbridge (177th, 24:16), Gloria Westlake (181st, 24:18), Mary Dohogne (182nd, 24:22) and Laura Chavez (186th, 24:26).

Seabaugh is a Jackson High School graduate, while Dohogne and Chavez are both from Central High School.
