The Southeast Missouri State baseball team closes out its six-game homestand against an undefeated squad.

Southeast (5-2) welcomes Central Arkansas (6-0) to Capaha Field for 2 p.m. contests today and Wednesday.

"Hopefully we can play well these last two games before we head out on the road again," said Southeast coach Mark Hogan, whose club won two of three over the weekend against Ball State and is 3-1 on its current homestand.

UCA is coming off a three-game weekend sweep of perennial Ohio Valley Conference power Eastern Illinois.

The Bears, who opened the season by sweeping a three-game set against future OVC member SIU-Edwardsville, have played all six contests at home.

"Central Arkansas is off to a great start," Hogan said. "I look for really competitive games against them."

UCA is batting .279 and has a 3.83 ERA. The Bears have outscored the opposition 48-28.

Southeast is hitting .276 and boasts a 2.45 ERA. The Redhawks have outscored their opponents 54-28.

The Bears went 19-35-1 last year, including 10-22-1 in the Southland Conference. They split a two-game series against Southeast in Conway, Ark. The Redhawks dropped the opener 8-7 and took the finale 13-11.

Senior left-hander Josh Syberg (1-1), who has not allowed an earned run in five innings, is scheduled to start on the mound for the Redhawks today.

Southeast, following the series with UCA, visits Troy (Ala.) for a three-game set Friday through Sunday, followed by March 8 and 9 contests at Arkansas-Little Rock.
