Southeast Missouri State All-American third baseman Trenton Moses advanced to the semifinal round in voting for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, which is presented to the nation's best amateur baseball player.
Moses, a graduate of Advance High School, is one of 30 semifinalists for the award. He is the lone player from the Ohio Valley Conference.
Moses led the OVC in batting average (.408), home runs (19), on-base percentage (.531) and slugging percentage (.761). He was named the OVC's player of the year for the second consecutive year.
A ballot to determine the three finalists will be sent to more than 215 voters, and fans can vote at goldenspikesaward.com.
Past winners of the award include San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey (2008), Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg (2009) and Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper (2010).
The three finalists will be announced June 5.
