Southeast Missouri State senior shortstop Kenton Parmley, fresh off breaking a notable school record, has been named to the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award watch list. The Wallace Award recognizes the nation's top shortstop.

Parmley, who ranks among the national and Ohio Valley Conference leaders in several offensive categories, made his mark in NCAA history earlier this season with a 47-game hitting streak.

Parmley's hitting streak set the OVC record and tied for third all-time in NCAA Division I history.

Parmley's first-inning double during Friday's 5-3 win at Jacksonville State gave him 288 career hits to break the school record that had been set by Southeast Hall of Famer Jeremy Johnson (1997 through 2000). Parmley also broke the program's career record for at-bats, which had been held by Zach Borowiak (830, 2000 through 2003)

"Kenton is a complete player, and I tip my cap to him for his accomplishments. It is very exciting to see," Southeast coach Mark Hogan said. "It [the hits mark] is one of our great all-time records. It's a record I thought would never be broken."

Parmley is among three OVC players named to the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award watch list, joining Austin Peay's Reed Harper and Eastern Kentucky's Richie Rodriquez.

Southeast senior first baseman Kody Campbell has been named a Capital One Academic All-District selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Campbell recently won the Jewel Award, which is given annually to Southeast's senior male athlete with the highest career GPA.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
