Southeast Missouri State senior left fielder Michael Adamson is among just two Ohio Valley Conference baseball players named to the Capital One Academic All-District first team, which is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Adamson, who has a 3.78 grade-point average in education, is hitting .350. He entered the weekend 12th in the OVC in batting average, first in runs scored (49) and second in hits (64) while adding nine doubles, six home runs, 33 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 13 attempts. He also has not committed an error in the field.
Adamson, who will be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors, was a preseason all-OVC selection this year after earning second-team all-conference honors in 2010.
The Redhawks, coming off Wednesday's 6-5 win at 16th-ranked Arkansas, return to action Saturday with an OVC doubleheader at Austin Peay.
Southeast, 28-17 overall, is a second-place 10-6 in league play. The Redhawks trail first-place Austin Peay (24-19, 12-4) by two games. They have just six OVC contests remaining.
