Sophomore Brianna Mueller scored 19 points in the title game of the Delta New Year's Tournament as Saxony Lutheran successfully defended its crown in dominating style last week.

The top-seeded Crusaders claimed the championship with a surprisingly easy 68-22 win over No. 2 seed Woodland to improve to 8-2 on the season. Mueller also scored 15 points in a semifinal rout of Scott County Central and 12 points in a thumping of Delta in the first round.

Mueller is averaging 14.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.4 assists on the season.

The 5-foot-7 guard/forward was selected Class 3 second-team all-region as a freshman.
