~ Frank Cuervo will begin duties Jan. 4
Frank Cuervo will fill the new position of associate athletic director for external affairs at Southeast Missouri State.
Cuervo, who begins his duties Jan. 4, will oversee sports information, marketing and development among other responsibilities. He has extensive experience in the areas of fundraising and corporate sponsorship.
"I'm excited to hire someone with Frank's experience, knowledge and contacts within the intercollegiate world," Southeast director of athletics John Shafer said in a release. "I believe he is a perfect fit for our administrative team. I welcome him and his wife, Michelle, to the Southeast Missouri State University community."
Cuervo most recently was general manager and assistant vice president for ISP Sports and Northern Illinois University Sports Network since March.
As a member of the Northern Illinois athletics senior management team, Cuervo was directly responsible for generating more than $1 million annually in corporate sponsorship and multi-media rights revenue.
Prior to ISP Sports, Cuervo worked as assistant director of athletics for external operations at Indiana from July, 2006, through March, 2009.
At Indiana, Cuervo supervised and managed the activities of the Hoosier marketing, ticketing and media relations departments. He also oversaw 28 full-time employees and was responsible for monitoring and managing seven budgets totaling $7 million.
Cuervo also has worked at Missouri, Bowling Green and Ohio State.
At Missouri, Cuervo was assistant director of external operations in 2005 and 2006, and director of marketing and promotions from 2001 through 2005.
Cuervo was assistant director of athletics for marketing and sales at Bowling Green in 2000 and 2001, after serving as Ohio State's marketing coordinator in 1999 and 2000. He also was a marketing and ticketing coordinator with the Outback Bowl in 1999.
Cuervo is a 1997 Florida graduate, with a bachelor's degree in marketing and public relations.
