Sophomore Evan Clifton connected on 10 3-pointers and recorded a game-high 32 points to lead the fourth-seeded St. Vincent boys basketball team to a 78-64 win over fifth-seeded Viburnum in the opening round of the Class 2 District 3 Tournament on Monday in Bismarck, Missouri.
Trevor Leible netted 16 points for St. Vincent (11-13), which clung to a four-point lead at halftime but outscored the Blue Jays by 10 points in the second half. Luke Wibbenmeyer pitched in 12 points for the Indians, while Tyler Monier tallied 10 points and five assists.
Collin Blount netted 17 points and Couper Davis scored 15 points to pace Viburnum, which ended its season with a record of 6-17.
St. Vincent will face top-seeded Southern Reynolds (22-3) in a semifinal at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Whippets trounced eighth-seeded Valley (Caledonia) 71-19 to advance, ending the Vikings' season at 4-22.

Jessie Long pulled down 11 rebounds and Shiloh Kin snagged 10 rebounds for the Eagles, who flew out to a commanding 55-0 lead at halftime. Brianna Stause contributed nine points and six steals.
Mary Rawlins had five points to pace The Fulton School at St. Albans, which ended its season with a record of 13-12.
Oran will face third-seeded St. Paul Lutheran (Farmington) for the district title at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Giants (6-20) upset second-seeded Delta 50-46 in overtime to book their spot in the championship game. The Bobcats closed out their season with a record of 7-15.
