Miles Smith and Heather Jenkins both picked up first-place finishes for Southeast Missouri State in the Health Alliance Classic track and field meet at the University of Illinois on Saturday.
Southeast's men finished fifth out of six teams, while the women finished last in their seven-team field.
Smith won the 400-meter dash in 47.69 seconds, and Jenkins finished first in the weight throw at 18.79 meters.
Walter Washington placed second in the 600 for the Redhawks, and the Southeast men's 1,600 relay team of Smith, Washington, George Medley and Alonzo Nelson also claimed second.
"Our men had some really good performances," Southeast coach Joey Haines said. "Miles won the 400 pretty easily, and Walter ran one of the best 600 times in school history."
